Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline, Masters Preferred
8+ years as a mechanical engineer in the Biotechnology or medical device industry with experience in the design of complex laboratory instruments and systems


– Hands on designer of precision mechanical systems, utilizing leading-edge technology, skills and industry best practices
– Demonstrated experience with motion control for high accuracy positioning
– Demonstrated experience with integration of optical components and detection systems
– Strong working knowledge of CAD/CAE tools (Solidworks preferred)


– Lead or participate in the planning, designing, development, verification & validation, documentation, and testing/debugging of complex mechanical systems
– Provide technical expertise and engineering guidance for mechanical design teams
– Use advanced engineering techniques, theory and practices throughout the mechanical development lifecycle
– Provide input in the development of solutions to meet customer needs
– Conduct design reviews of mechanical fixtures and assemblies
– Interact regularly with Management to communicate status of milestones and impacts of technical hurdles
