Job Description

Engineer (REQ# 1745)

Optical engineering lead who designs, models, analyzes, and tests optical and electro-optical systems and components. Conducts research and development into phases of physical optics and geometric optics, lasers, laser characteristics, laser maintenance, and broadband optical sources. Applies research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical manipulations. Develops component specifications, tolerances, simulations and tests procedures for electro-optical systems and components.    

Skills Required:

Ability to design, model, analyze, and test optical and electro-optical systems and components. Conduct research and development into phases of physical optics and geometric optics, lasers, laser characteristics, and laser maintenance. Apply research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical performance. Develops component specifications, tolerances, simulations and tests procedures for electro-optical systems and components. Develop advanced concepts, techniques, and standards. Develop solutions to problems of unusual complexity which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovativeness. Challenges are frequently unique and complex. Knowledge and practical experience with laser systems is required.Ability to work well with multi-disciplinary teams often consisting of mechanical, electrical, optical, and systems engineers. Candidate must be able to interact well with program management.   

Skills Preferred:

Laser countermeasure systems knowledge and experience is preferred.    

Experience Required:

 10+ years of experience designing, modeling, analyzing, and testing optical and electro-optical systems and components. Experience conducting research and development into phases of physical optics and geometric optics, lasers, laser characteristics, laser maintenance, and broadband optical sources. Applied research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical manipulations. Developed component specifications, tolerances, simulations and tests procedures for electro-optical systems and components.   

Experience Preferred:

12+ years of experience designing, modeling, analyzing, and testing optical and electro-optical systems and components. Experience conducting research and development into phases of physical optics and geometric optics, lasers, laser characteristics, laser maintenance, and broadband optical sources. Applied research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical manipulations. Developed component specifications, tolerances, simulations and tests procedures for electro-optical systems and components.   

Education Required:

B.S. degree in Optical Engineering, or equivalent.    

Education Preferred:

M.S. in Optical Engineering, or equivalent 

MUST BE US CITIZEN – MUST BE WILLING TO UNDERGO SECURITY CLEARANCE INVESTIGATION
