Job Description

Associate R&D Technician

The Associate R&D Technician will work support all areas of R&D cell development, processing, and characterization. Primary responsibilities of this position include (1) materials handling and processing and (2) prototype battery assembly

Key Responsibilities

  • Process active materials and prepare solutions and slurries at various stages of the R&D process; from lab scale to semi-automated and automated processes
  • Prepare inactive materials for daily cell building activities; requires operating mechanical process equipment and documentation for material inventory tracking

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Assemble development cells at various stages of the R&D process, from hand-built lab prototypes to semi-automated and automated assembly
  • Support general R&D work as directed by supervisor – analytical testing, data compilation, lab cleaning, supply ordering, inventory data entry and new equipment set up

Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma required
  • Demonstrated electro-mechanical skills: equipment operation, materials handling, and process assembly
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook email applications

Required Experience

  • 0-2 years relevant technical experience required or applicable technical education

Physical and Environmental Standards  

  • Capable of working in low moisture dry room environment: < 1.0% Relative Humidity (-50°C dew point)
  • Capable of wearing clean room attire when working in dry room environment: face mask, hair net, safety glasses, gloves, coverall suit and shoe covers
  • Capable of meeting OSHA standards for manual lifting guidelines: < 50lbs

  • Capable of working early morning and evenings
